Could all clubs please let the League Match Secretary know by 23 August how many teams (Mixed, Men & Ladies) they will be fielding in the 2022/23 season. This will allow the proposed league structure to be produced and circulated ahead of the fixture meeting which is to be held on 6 September 2022.
The Fixture Meeting will be held in the Balcony Bar (overlooking the sports hall) of the Cheshire County Sports Club on Tuesday 6 Sep 2022 at 7pm.
All clubs MUST be represented. The Fixture Arrangement form can be found on the Members-Area – please print off one form per team.
The following are the league tables for 2021/22. Because of the ongoing challenges of Covid there were no promotions or relegations this season.
For the 2022/23 season we are offering a Ladies League for teams of 4 ladies. The rules and scoring will be the same as for the Men’s League. Ladies will be allowed to play in both the mixed and the ladies leagues.
For the second year running men will be able to play in both the mixed and men’s leagues. The rules for the men’s league will be formalised and included in the main list of rules.
The original purpose of the men’s league was to give match play to men not included in the mixed league. Clubs will therefore be asked to include as many men as possible in the various teams.
Updated rules for 2022/23 will be published on the Members-Area page – we will no longer be producing Rules & Fixtures booklets.
This will not only save money but, because we don’t have to allow time for printing, the fixture meeting can be held in September rather than July. This in turn will allow more time for clubs to finalise venues and match days.
We recognise that some clubs are struggling to get back on their feet following Covid so, for the second year running, League Fees will be waived. Players will still need to be registered with the League but there will be no payment required for this.
(Badminton England/Badminton Wales and County Fees will, however, still be payable)
The AGM considered proposals for mixed teams to be made up of various combinations of men & ladies. However when it came to the vote it was decided that, for the 2022/23 season, a mixed team should be comprised of 4 men and 4 ladies.
The 2019/20 season finished on 16 March 2020 because of Coronavirus. The league tables at that point were as follows:
There was no play in the 2020/21 season.
We need someone to be the tournament secretary and is there a member of the league who could assist with the social media promotion of the league please?
The league cannot function without volunteers so if you can help in anyway please contact the League Secretary, Mark (send email).
