PRESENTATION NIGHT

Thanks to everyone who attended the presentation evening on Friday 5th Jun – hope you enjoyed the night.

Huge thanks to Louise for organising it all (and for her puzzles which certainly kept us scratching our heads!)

And to Colin, Emma & Louise for sourcing some brilliant raffle prizes including donations from Pale Hall by Bala, Chester Boat, Wrexham Tennis Centre, Brio, Goredale and Derek (Yonex racket).

Money from the raffle will be put towards funding our Junior League.

AGM

The AGM will be held on Wednesday 17 Jun at 7pm in the Balcony Bar of the Cheshire County Sports Club. The Agenda is available in the Members-Area

Please make sure your club is represented as there will be some important decisions to be made.

Some great news though – we have had a couple of volunteers for the Chairperson & Vice Chairperson roles.

MEN’S LEAGUE PROPOSAL

There has been a proposal submitted to change the format of the men’s league:

Teams to consist of 6 players rather than 4. Each player playing 3 matches (best of 2 only). This will give players the same (minimum) number of games they currently have.

Reason: Increase the opportunity for men to play in the men’s league whilst reducing the cost per player per match.

Please discuss within your clubs. This proposal will be voted on at the AGM on 17 Jun.

JUNIOR WINNERS

Congratulations to our 2025-26 junior winners:

Congratulations also to our junior teams who took part in the Cheshire County Junior Finals held on 30 May 2026. More details and all photos on the Galleries page.

Well done to all who took part and, as always, huge thanks to Emma for running our Junior League and teams.

SAD NEWS

We were deeply saddened to hear that Steve Lacey from Delamere BC passed away on 12th May after suffering heart problems.

Steve had been at the heart of Delamere BC for more than 30 years and was serving as Chairman at the time. He was a larger-than-life character, both at his club and across the League and will be remembered for his warmth, quick wit and great sense of humour. He was a familiar face at our League Executive Committee meetings, where he always brought a calm, sensible perspective to discussions.  More recently, he played a key role in rewriting our League Rules, making them far clearer and easier for everyone to follow.

Steve will be much missed not only by his friends at Delamere but by many across our badminton community.  Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

The funeral will be at Vale Royal Crematorium on Wednesday 10 June at 1:30pm with a reception at Crewe Alexandra football club afterwards.
